Disruptions: Man in Regent Street is a 2021 work for soprano, paper and electronics by Jonathan Higgins and Mimi Doulton. A four-metre long musical score hangs in the space and is progressively destroyed by the performer through successive performances. Between each performance, the audience is invited to rearrange and recompose the work, bringing out new meanings in a text that is a commentary on the paradox of consumerism and the climate crisis, and finding ways to reuse fragments that would otherwise go to waste.
Audiences are handed even more control in Christopher A. Williams’ A Musik – a paper tool for playing and composing with people. Audience volunteers create a musical score using paper of different colours, textures and sizes, and vocalist Mimi Doulton is challenged to interpret their work, creating something new with every performance.

Disruptions: Man in Regent Street ist ein Werk für Sopran, Papier und Elektronik von Jonathan Higgins und Mimi Doulton aus dem Jahr 2021. Eine vier Meter lange Partitur hängt im Raum und wird von die Sängerin bei aufeinanderfolgenden Aufführungen nach und nach zerstört. Zwischen den einzelnen Aufführungen ist das Publikum aufgefordert, das Werk neu zusammenzusetzen, um neue Bedeutungen in einem Text zu finden, der das Paradox des Konsumverhaltens und der Klimakrise kommentiert, und um Wege zu finden, Fragmente wiederzuverwenden, die sonst im Müll landen würden.
Noch mehr Kontrolle hat das Publikum in Christopher A. Williams’ A Musik – ein ‘paper tool’ zum Spielen und Komponieren mit Menschen. Freiwillige aus dem Publikum erstellen eine Partitur aus Papier in verschiedenen Farben, Texturen und Größen, und die Sängerin Mimi Doulton wird aufgefordert, es zu interpretieren, wobei bei jeder Aufführung etwas Neues entsteht.
