Forget everything you expect from a piano concert.
On October 2, pianist and composer Luis Berra comes to Kühlhaus Berlin for an evening beyond the traditional piano recital. His music moves between contemporary piano, lyrical improvisation, minimalism, jazz and blues, blending written pieces with music created in the moment.
The evening features music from his latest album “A Piano Won’t Fix Your Tormented Soul”, released by Berlin-based label Neue Meister, alongside spontaneous improvisations. With tens of millions of streams worldwide, Berra has reached an international audience – but live, every performance becomes something unique.
No fixed narrative. No background music. Just a piano, a room, and the unpredictable space between composition and improvisation.
Born in Nicaragua in 1985 , Berra’s Argentinian mother and Italian father moved the boy to Carmignano, Toscana, a short drive from Florence.
His piano studies began at age six, which will surprise no-one whose heard his work. Berra has a mature, classically trained compositional sense that infuses his work with a genuinely timeless quality.
After his high school Senior year as an exchange student in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, he started to focus on jazz and blues, trying to mix different music cultures.
He studied for 5 years at Conservatory of Cagliari in Sardinia, then he dedicated his life performing life and studying music composition by him self through some private lessons and experiences.
He graduaded in piano pedagogic at the Berufachscule für Musik in Plattling.
